Grades 4-6: The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester

Grades 6-9: Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper

Grades 9-12: Girl, Stolen by April Henry

Our Black Eyed Susan voting party was a success! 25 students voted for their favorite book and spent their lunch talking about the books while eating pizza. Here are pictures of the 7th (left) and 6th (right) grade voters. Watch out for the announcement of this year's winners, and for next year's books!

The Black Eyed Susan voting and pizza party will be held on April 20th during all three lunch periods. If you have read at least THREE BES books in any category, sign up in the Media Center to vote!

Black-Eyed Susan voting is coming up after Spring Break--so make sure you pick up a book to read over the vacation! You need to have read at least three BES books in ONE category in order to enter. Sign up for the pizza/voting party in the media center.

Media Center update: The Media Center is closed due to a flood caused by the sprinkler system on Friday, October 21st. MCPS is replacing some of the drywall that got wet, as well as the carpet. Students should hold on to their books for the time being. There are no overdue fines. Thank you for your patience, and we will let you know as soon as we are up and running again!

Author Visit: YA author Terry Trueman visited our school today. He spoke to the entire 8th grade where he read from his new, soon to be published book, conducted a boys writer's workshop, and visited a READ 180 class to discuss the writing process. Signed copied of his books are available to purchase this week in the Media Center, or check out a library copy. Here are some pictures of the event:

All books, magazines, e-readers, and MP3 players circulate for two (2) weeks. You may renew all items multiple times unless there is a hold on the item.
